Thawing Out

Hey friends of Forth - Eleanor here!

As many of you have heard around the studio, I got back last week from a week-long meditation retreat and I’m still very much in the process of integration. I spent a week in the Catskills with some of my favorite teachers from around the country, mostly meditating with a bit of intentional movement. I had the privilege of leaving my phone under my bed for the entire week, actually sitting down and eating three gluten-free and vegan meals a day, and learning and growing along 70 other individuals - most of whom are also in the wellness industry.

Spending an entire week with only face-to-face communication made my first phone call seem almost artificial, let alone my first Instagram binge. As an entrepreneur, I am metaphorically chained to my phone to ensure operations stay consistent whenever the studio is open. That being said, in my week away I was reminded of what it truly means to be human - to move through experiences face to face, the slow down and appreciate nature, to relish every bite of food we get to eat. We get so many opportunities to feel alive in our everyday. It is truly a beautiful thing when we can feel alive in the body in addition to the mind.

I’ve come back invigorated to teach more, specifically to dive into more meditative and somatic practices. Curious about that? We’ve revamped our Wednesday 5:30pm breathe class and have heard great feedback so far. We process so much change and information in the mind, these practices help us to process in the body.

I hope as Winter thaws into Spring, that you all have taken the time to come back to the essence of your “why” - what makes you feel alive? What brings you back to flow state? And how can you get rid of the distractions, in order to do more of what makes you feel good?
